A few weeks ago, I was asked to fill in for Sean ‘Hollywood’ Hamilton on his nationally syndicated Weekend Top 30 Countdown.  I accepted without hesitation.

Sean was always an on air personality that I looked up to. We’re pretty fortunate today to be able to listen to whatever station we want, wherever it may be, whenever we want.  I first heard Hollywood Hamilton the old fashioned way…I traveled.

My aunt and uncle brought me along on a trip to Los Angeles when I was 12.  We went to Sea World, Disneyland, Newport Beach, and Rodeo Drive.  A lot of time was spent in the car.  A lot of driving occurred at night.  And all of my entertainment while sitting in the dark, crowded back seat was supplied by 102.7 KIIS FM and Hollywood Hamilton.

There was a vibe and presence that totally gelled with the lifestyle and pace of Southern California.  I felt the same way whenever I listened to B96 in Chicago in the early 90’s.

The idea of me being a substitute for a guy I have looked up to for so long was beyond humbling.  I’m glad I got a chance to do it.  Here’s the final segment of the show, with a shout-out to my girls at the end.
